Traditional Bread & Rice Accompaniments ( Traditionally eaten with a choice of curry)

Pol Roti ( Coconut Roti)

Pan grilled flat bread with fresh grated coconut. onion, mild chili served with Onion sambol.
Aappa (aap-pa/ Hoppers)

Wafer thin, bowel shaped pancakes made from a fermented batter of rice flour and coconut milk served with coconut sambol or onion sambol.

Indi Aappa (Indhi aap-pa / String Hoppers)


Spaghetti-like strings of rice-flour dough squeezed through a sieve onto small woven trays, which are steamed to perfection. Serves with coconut gravy and onion sambol or coconut sambol



Pittu (pit-tu)

Pittu is a mixture of fresh rice meal, very lightly roasted and mixed with fresh grated coconut, and streamed in a bamboo mould.


Coconut Sambol (Pol Sambol) 

Fresh grated coconut, chillies and Sri Lankan spices.

Onion Sambol (Seeni Sambol) 

Sauteed onions, chillies and Sri Lankan spices.
